the VPX version of "Playboy" is really bad) have me just about ready to give up. While the older VP9 tables aren't too bad, the new VPX tables (especially a few tables that -I have yet to determine what is different about them- are even worse than the other i.e. Even the other people that come over to play now all comment on how it seems to lag so badly now. I'm sure it's a combination of playing my real machines (with zero flipper lag) and the added lag of desktop comp, but it's really really bad now. I say it more with sadness than anything else, but it has made my rig just about unplayable. Some people may see this as bitching, but it's really not. A small adjustment in timing and you were on your way.Įnter VPX (and shortly after, Win10) and it's requirement of desktop composition to solve the problem with large columns of screen tearing in VPX). Sure there was a little bit of flipper lag but it was hardly noticeable and quite manageable. It wasn't much of a problem going back to the virtual on VP9/Win7. Since I have been restoring the real machines myself, I've been playing them. I now have 2 virtual and 5 real machines. When I first built my VP cab, admittedly I hadn't played on a real machine in probably a decade or more, so it was a real pleasure to be able to play some of my old beloved games again.Īs fate would have it playing more pinball, even if only virtual, got me into the pinball community and long story short, I ended up buying several real pinball machines as well.
